Yesterday, a friend of mine posted on Facebook about giving something up for Lent. Now, I'm not a fan of Lent and had no intentions of observing it in any way, shape, or form. But, this got me thinking, and I realized how much I needed to get my life back on track. I work really, really well with doable deadlines, so decided to take a 40-day, non-Lent challenge. For 40 days, I am abstaining from all TV shows. Two years ago, I didn't watch any TV, shows, but lately it's been crazy. I am ashamed to admit it, but I've been addicted. Yes, all out wasting too much time on TV. I abhor all that television stands for, but when college gets crazy and friends are busy, life can get lonely. So I turn to TV. Sigh... But, I decided yesterday to change that. I am not so good at giving things up for good, but if I have a goal, I can do it. Anyways, that's my plan. And Day 1 was MORE than a success! That is the real reason I am blogging. I had too good of a day NOT to blog!
After class, I made a list of all the assignments I have due before break (one week away!!!!). Lunch with Whit and J happened next. Those two are a SCREAM! A tomato and avocado sandwich plus J&W time was lovely. Lunch ended and I began the 30-Day Challenge and chatted with friends. At 2:00, I headed to the church for Meet the Firms. Not only was this extra credit for class, but helped give me a little more of a sense for what I'd like to do post graduation. Sound good yet? It gets oh-so-much better!
I cleaned my room and then the roomie got back. After chatting about our days, we headed downstairs to Karie's waiting car. CAKE TIME! City Cafe's cake isn't like any other cake. Their pieces are HUGE! Massive. Delectable. Six Layer Buttercream cake was my sin of choice. CC was a quick stop, because people in our party had to work. But not to worry. The day got BETTER.
Today was GORGEOUS. Seventy degree weather in Tennessee in FEBRUARY. A-mazing! Cass and I grabbed our bikes and set out for the Greenway. It was simply delightful. Perfect riding weather. The plan was to hit the books after nearly an hour of bike riding, but no sooner had we sat down at our desks than we got a phone call from Juliana. "Come swing with me!" she asked. No need to twist my arm! I've decided grownups should play on playgrounds more often. So fun and stress relieving! After a LifeGroups meeting (my job), it was time for Zumba at Krystal's. SUCH a good workout! I feel great. Marvelous, even.
Bicycle Time with my Roomie
I am energized and feel amazing. Day 1 with no TV was fantastic and I am eager to see what other things I get done while on this fast.
Today was incredible. Too good for words. This blog post was my feeble attempt to freeze this memory in time. It was certainly one for the books...

Loved reading about your day and your SUCCESS!! I think you're going to have an incredible 40 days!! I'm cheering you on from the side-state!!
