Summer days. To many people, this implies sunny afternoons spent reading, sun tanning, sleeping in late, and staying up late. A typical summer in the Weber household involves few of these. Our summers are usually spent flying from state to state, often country to country even. When we are home we have so many events and projects running that there is little time to just “be.” This summer, however, while being similar to the previous ones in ways, has been a bit different for me personally. Yes, as soon as I finished school I packed my bags for Ecuador, but since returning from this trip I have had virtually nothing to do. Zilch. Other than help my mother keep our house clean in case of an unexpected showing, I have had lots of free time on my hands. And the funny thing is, I’ve not known what to do with it all! With our move quickly approaching there is no time for photo shoots, due to the processing and ordering that would ensue. Two weeks in Texas is hardly long enough to get a job and most of my friends are gone for the summer. The first few days back was extremely difficult for me. I’m a type A, task-oriented person and having nothing to do does not sit well with me. God is all-knowing, though, and this two weeks has been just what I needed. He led me to an INCREDIBLE book, which I will be sharing about in a future post, which has revitalized my walk with Him like never before, and has been teaching me to experience Him. I’ve had time to re-prioritize deep devotional time and daily exercise, which are things I have greatly missed. I’ve had time to sit down and read. Helping around the house has been much easier to juggle, not to mention the fact that I’ve been enjoying extra sleep: 8-10 hours a night! Ya-hoo! It’s been a joy to spend extra time with my girls, too. Since I’ve been home we’ve been to the park, the zoo, and they’ve come over for a swim. Although I definitely could not get used to life in the slow lane forever, I am so grateful to God for slowing me down long enough to reevaluate my life and reconnect with Him. I am enjoying blogging again, and hope to keep the updates flowing. Here are some pictures of my summer since Ecuador… Blessings to you all!
